These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Candid ("Candid", "we", "us"). By creating an account, ticking the acceptance box at sign-up, or using the app in any way, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Candid.
What you are acknowledging. When you tick the acceptance box at sign-up, you confirm that you have read and understood Section 5 ("Your content and the licence you give us"), including Candid's right to repost your public Candids on its social media pages and marketing material, and Section 7 ("You are responsible for who you meet"), including that you meet, communicate with and date other members entirely at your own risk.
You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter a contract, and not barred from using the service under any applicable law. You must never have been convicted of a felony, a sex offence, or a violent crime, and you must not be listed on any sex-offender registry. One account per person. You are responsible for everything that happens on your account and for keeping your login details secure.
Candid only accepts photos captured live inside the app. You agree not to attempt to upload, inject, screen-capture, deepfake or otherwise submit images that were not taken in the moment by you, of you. Your profile must describe a real person — you. Impersonation, bots, scraped images and misleading information are grounds for immediate removal.
You agree not to use Candid to:
We may remove content, restrict features, or terminate an account at any time, with or without notice, where we believe these Terms have been broken or where we consider it necessary to protect members.
You keep ownership of the photos, prompts, comments and messages you create ("Your Content").
By posting Your Content you grant Candid a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish and display Your Content for the purpose of operating, improving and promoting Candid.
Marketing and social media. This licence expressly includes the right to repost, feature or reshare Candids and other public posts — including your image, first name and the words you wrote with them — on Candid's own social media pages, website and marketing material, with or without further notice to you, and at no cost to either of us. Private messages are never used this way. If you would rather we didn't feature you, email hello@datecandid.com and we will remove the post from our channels going forward.
Every new member gets their first 30 days free. After that, membership is $5 per week, billed through our payment processor until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the app; cancellation stops future billing and takes effect at the end of the paid period. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments already made are non-refundable. Prices may change with notice before your next renewal.
Fine print on "30 days to find the love of your life." That line is an offer of one free month of usage — not a promise, guarantee, prediction or warranty of any outcome. Candid does not guarantee matches, dates, relationships, love, or any particular result within 30 days or ever. No feature is gated during or after the free month.
Candid is an introduction service. We are not a background-check provider, we do not vet, screen, interview or verify the character, criminal history, intentions or safety of any member beyond requiring live photos, and we do not supervise anything that happens off the app.
You use Candid, communicate with other members, and meet other people entirely at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Candid, its owners, employees, contractors and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, costs and liabilities of every kind — known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen, arising in contract, tort, statute or otherwise — that arise out of or relate to your use of the app, anything another member says, posts or does, and any interaction, meeting, date, relationship, injury, harm or loss that occurs online or in person, whether during or after your use of Candid. You will not sue Candid over such matters. Take sensible precautions: meet in public, tell a friend where you are, and trust your instincts.
Candid is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Candid will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill or emotional distress. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Candid in the twelve months before the claim, or $100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.
You agree to indemnify and hold Candid harmless from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party arising from Your Content, your use of the app, your conduct towards other members, or your breach of these Terms or the law.
You can report any profile, Candid, comment or reaction from inside the app. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, which may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts. We may retain records of reported content and moderation decisions.
You can delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service. Sections 5 through 9 survive termination.
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Candid after that means you accept the updated Terms.
Talk to us first — most issues are solved by emailing hello@datecandid.com. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be handled individually, not as a class action, and under the laws of the jurisdiction in which Candid is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, that right is unaffected.
